Each LED lamp of the wall is responsible for displaying a colour; therefore these walls produce very high quality and vivid images and seamless viewing experience. What are LED Lamps or Pixels?

Each LED cabinet comprises of millions of LEDs/SMD Components soldered in an array to create a display. These individual LED lamps are known as pixels that ultimately form the screen resolution. Technically, LED lamps or pixels are tiny light bulbs that are soldered in a printed circuit board (PCB). They are not like the incandescent lamps that burn a filament to emit light. LED lamps produce light by the movement of electrons in a semiconductor material. The electrons recombine with holes releasing energy in the form of photons. The colour of an LED lamp is determined by the energy required by an electron to cross the band gap of the semiconductor.

What is Pixel Pitch?

Pixel Pitch is the density of pixels on an LED Display. It is inversely proportional to the resolution of the LED Display Wall. According to the definition, Pixel Pitch is the distance in millimetres from the centre of a pixel to the centre of the adjacent pixel. It depicts the amount of space between two pixels. Smaller pixel pitch means more pixel density. Smaller pixel pitch also means higher screen resolution. Pixel pitch is directly proportional to the viewing distance of the display. Higher the pixel pitch, higher will be the viewing distance and vice versa.

Difference Between Indoor and Outdoor LED Display Wall

Indoor LED Display Wall

Indoor LED Display Wall is used for indoor advertisement and information display purposes. Therefore, higher IP (Ingress Protection) rating is not required for Indoor LED Wall. They are not exposed to external environmental factors like harsh sunlight, rain, dust, smoke, etc. The Indoor LED Display Wall is made for bright lighting conditions, therefore it has high brightness. They are made with smaller pixel pitch for shorter viewing distance. Audience view the LED Display Wall from a short distance, thus higher resolution and lower pixel pitch is required.

Outdoor LED Display Wall

Outdoor LED Display is usually mounted in outdoor areas at public places. They are viewed from a larger distance, therefore larger pixel pitch and lower pixel density is required. On the other hand, Outdoor LED Display Wall is several times brighter than the Indoor Wall. Outdoor LED Wall has higher IP rating to protect it from weather conditions like sunlight, rain, dust and hail.
